Another trooper noticed the car from a distance of around 13 miles away and tried to start a traffic stop. According to the FHP, the driver increased his speed from about 130 mph to 150 mph or more at that point. The driver was passing cars on the interstate’s north and south shoulders as the car departed.
After the car crossed Escambia Bay and turned onto Scenic Highway, troopers were unable to see it anymore.
One of the troopers found the Mustang parked in a driveway off Scenic Court with the help of a bystander. The driver of the car violently sped off as the troopers got closer, going through a few yards and down an embankment to return to Scenic Highway. The motorist departed the scene carelessly, according to FHP, despite damage to the car.
For a little while, the troopers managed to re-engage the Mustang, but it quickly disengaged again. We were unable to continue pursuing the vehicle, even with the help of locals, but we were able to follow it as it left the state, according to FHP.
A local deputy was able to perform a traffic stop and apprehend the driver of the black Ford Mustang when they found it at a petrol station in Baldwin County. The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office arrested the driver after the FBI acquired a warrant for his arrest.
Romero Antwan Nail was accused of escaping authorities and running away from Gretna, Louisiana. At the conclusion of the FHP investigation, more charges are anticipated.
