An 82-year-old woman from Alabama lost her life in a tragic accident in Santa Rosa County on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. when she was leaving the Sanhandle Lotto parking lot in Jay and pulled onto State Road 87.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the woman failed to see an oncoming tractor-trailer driven by a 61-year-old man from Milton. The right front of the tractor-trailer collided with the left side of the woman’s vehicle, causing it to spin counterclockwise before coming to a stop on the west grass shoulder.
Emergency responders pronounced the woman dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured in the collision.
