CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WVPREPBB) – West Virginians can enjoy some savings as they prepare for the new school year with the upcoming sales tax holiday. Governor Jim Justice announced that West Virginiaβs sales tax holiday will start on Friday, August 2, and run through Monday, August 5, ending at 11:59 p.m.

During this period, several items will be exempt from sales and use tax, including:
- Clothing priced at $125 or less.
- School supplies priced at $50 or less.
- School instructional materials priced at $20 or less.
- Laptop and tablet computers priced at $500 or less.
- Sports equipment priced at $150 or less.
However, the tax exemption does not apply to items purchased for business or trade use.
