Authorities in one Southern California community are advising residents to investigate the surroundings surrounding their homes following the discovery of a concealed camera earlier this week.
On Monday night, Alhambra police officers responded to a call of an attempted burglary in the 1900 block of South Primrose Avenue.
“The victim’s neighbor discovered a hidden camera in the bushes pointing toward their home,” police wrote in a social media post with a photo of the gadget. It was hidden in a green shell, surrounded by foliage.
According to police, the homeowners’ alarm provider reportedly reported an attempt to open a kitchen window earlier in the day.
If you find one of the following outside your home, it is important to contact the police immediately:
Suspicious Packages: Any unclaimed or unusual packages, especially if they are left in strange places or have wires, ticking sounds, or other odd features.
Abandoned Bags or Backpacks: Items left unattended, particularly in public places or near your home, which could potentially contain harmful materials.
Graffiti or Symbols: Unusual markings, gang symbols, or threatening messages that appear suddenly on your property or nearby structures.
Strange Devices: Any unfamiliar electronic devices or gadgets that are not yours and seem out of place.
Tampered Mailboxes: Signs of tampering with mailboxes or mail, which could indicate someone trying to steal personal information.
Suspicious Vehicles: Vehicles parked unusually close to your home or frequently appearing and then disappearing, especially if they are occupied or contain unknown objects.
Illegal Substances: Any drug paraphernalia or substances that you did not place there.
Drones: Unfamiliar drones hovering around your property, which could be used for surveillance or other illicit activities.
If you encounter any of these items or situations, do not touch or move anything, and contact your local law enforcement to ensure your safety and the safety of others.
