11,834 New Mexico residents will receive an additional $135 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. According to a news release from the New Mexico Human Services Department (HSD), a collaboration with the Aging and Long-Term Services Department (ALTSD) is assisting in the delivery of additional food support to SNAP-enrolled persons over 60 and adults with disabilities in June.
The one-time reward will be distributed throughout June to eligible people who received the SNAP State Supplement in February of this year. According to the statement, the funding is part of a larger effort to alleviate food insecurity in the state.
The money for the one-time benefit comes from the state’s general revenue. Those who qualify do not need to take any action because the June benefit will be applied to their EBT card automatically. If you have any questions about these increased SNAP benefits, please contact the Human Services Department at 1-800-283-4465.
