MINGO COUNTY, W.Va – West Virginia State Police have disclosed the identify of a man who was fatally shot during a heated argument in Mingo County on Friday morning.
Charles Speer, 42, of Kermit, was slain at a residence between the Lenore and Naugatuck neighborhoods shortly after 5 a.m., according to a State Police press release.
According to the news release, Speer went to the home, when “a physical altercation occurred during which Charles Speer was shot multiple times.”
According to troopers, Speer was brought to Williamson ARH and pronounced dead.
The man’s body is being sent to Frankfort, Kentucky, for an autopsy as part of an ongoing investigation, according to State Police.
The Mingo County Prosecutor’s Office has been made aware of the investigation, but no charges have been filed.

The West Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal shooting in Mingo County on Friday morning.
Troopers said they were summoned to a property on Route 65 in the Lenore area just after 5 a.m., where they discovered a resident had shot another man after an incident.
According to State Police, the shooting victim was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead.
There have been no charges filed in relation with the incident.

Following a gunshot incident that happened in Mingo County early on Friday morning, emergency dispatchers have reported that one individual is deceased.
According to dispatchers, the incident occurred in the Lenore neighborhood at approximately 5:15 a.m.
