On May 17, 2024, the Berkeley County Prosecutor’s Office issued a warrant for Justin Broadus, 36, of Hagerstown, Maryland, charging him with Attempted Murder, Conspiracy to Attempt Murder, Wanton Endangerment, and Conspiracy to Commit Wanton Endangerment with a firearm. These charges are linked to a shooting incident at Club Aura in December 2021.
The Berkeley County Prosecutor’s Office sought the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task Force on May 20, 2024, to apprehend Broadus. Previously, in March 2023, the Task Force had arrested Broadus in Hagerstown on an unrelated drug charge for the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators soon gathered information that Broadus was still in the Hagerstown area. On May 31, 2024, he was located and arrested without incident in the 300 block of Central Avenue.
Acting U.S. Marshal Terry Moore praised the collaborative effort, stating, “The Berkeley County Sheriff’s and Prosecutor’s Office did an excellent job investigating this attempted murder case, leading to Broadus’s charges. This arrest showcases the strength of our partnerships with state and local agencies in bringing violent offenders to justice.”
The agencies involved in the arrest included the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, Hagerstown Police Department, and the U.S. Marshals Service. Broadus is currently being held at the Washington County Adult Detention Center.
