BECKLEY, WV – Crestview Village Apartment tenants in Beckley have expressed frustration over the deteriorating condition of their road following a logging operation ordered by Governor Jim Justice a few years ago. The road, which was not built to endure heavy logging trucks, suffered significant damage from the activity.
The tenants have voiced their concerns about the road’s condition, prompting Governor Justice to address the issue with 59News. He clarified that the responsibility for Crestview Drive lies with the owner of Crestview Village Apartments. “From what I know, itβs completely their responsibility,” Justice stated. He emphasized the need for extensive excavation and the establishment of a new access route to the nearby assisted living home. Additionally, Justice mentioned the necessity of reaching an agreement with the property owner to relocate the road.
Justice also highlighted the importance of securing an agreement with the County Commission to resolve this matter. He pointed out the potential of the area around the Apartments on Harper Road, suggesting it could be an ideal location for large businesses like Target and Bass Pro Shop.
While the resolution to the road issue may take some time, Crestview Village Apartments tenants are actively seeking donations to fund the necessary repairs for Crestview Drive. They are calling on the community for support to address the road’s condition and improve their living environment.
