FLATWOODS, W.Va. (WVPREPBB) – Fourteen Starbucks locations, including one in West Virginia, filed petitions last week for union elections, according to Starbucks Workers United. Baristas at the Flatwoods Factory in Sutton, WV, submitted their petition to the National Labor Relations Board on Monday.
In a letter to Starbucks CEO Laxman Narasimhan this month, the recently unionized stores raised concerns about insufficient hours, inadequate staffing on promotional days, and understaffing. These stores are located in various cities including Tucson, AZ; San Jose, CA; Bremerton, WA (Seattle Area); Cincinnati, OH; Roswell, GA (Atlanta Area); Alpharetta, GA (Atlanta Area); Van Nuys, CA (Los Angeles Area); Indianapolis, IN; Burlington, VT; New York City, NY; Woods Cross, UT; Pittsburgh, PA; Louisville, KY; and Sutton, WV.
Starbucks Workers United noted that more petitions are expected throughout July.
