If you watch Jeopardy! and have been watching the episodes this week, you might have noticed that a fellow West Virginian has been having a pretty remarkable winning run.
Adriana Harmeyer, a West Layfette, Indiana resident currently, was raised in Huntington. She attended Marshall University and earned a bachelor’s degree in history with a Latin minor in 2006.
Harmeyer has always known she wanted to play Jeopardy! then at last had the opportunity to realize that dream.
To simply arrive on the set and start playing Jeopardy!, you know. There should be more to Jeopardy! than just a board and podiums on television. Having been there in person was therefore simply incredible. Harmeyer told 12 News, “I was ready to just go and try to have fun with it, with no expectations, but knowing that actually I can do this, that’s really nice.”
Harmeyer expressed her gratitude for all of the support she has gotten while on the show.
It never occurred to me that I would receive such a warm, enthusiastic response. Simply said, it’s been fantastically well received. I simply didn’t quite expect that going in, but so many people are rooting for me,β she said.
Nineteen thousand dollars has been earned by Harmeyer in four Jeopardy! victories. Her sixth episode airs on WBOY-NBC Tuesday, June 4 at 7 p.m.
